1,000,471. Endless conveyers. STOOKWERK N.V. Jan. 4, 1963 [Jan. 6, 1962], No. 601/62. Heading B8A. A stoking installation for feeding solid fuel to a boiler furnace comprises an upright elevator 6 incorporating fuel scoops 7 extending between, and movable with, endless chains 8, 9 to raise the fuel from a lower screw conveyer 2 communicating with a fuel hopper to an upper screw conveyer 4, communicating with the boiler furnace. The chains 8, 9 engage top and bottom pairs of chain wheels 12, 13 and 10, 11 connected to extensions of the screw conveyer shafts 15, 14. The elevator 6 is housed in a casing 16 which has lower and upper cowls 17, 18. Fuel is delivered from the lower screw conveyer 2 into the cowl 17 for scooping up and is discharged into an inlet in the upper screw conveyer 4 in the upper cowl 18. A larger diameter portion 23 of the screw 21 of the upper conveyer 4 passes through the chain wheel 13 and aids loosening of the entering fuel. A semi-cylindrical lipped extension 24 of the upper screw conveyer conduit 22 extends under the screw portion 23. The upper chain wheels 12, 13 are connected by rods 19. The two screw conveyers and the elevator are driven by a driving means 30 which may be connected to either the upper or lower screw conveyer shaft. The two chains of the elevator may be replaced by a single chain or band. Specifications 698,822 and 982,585 are referred to.
