The unit (1) has an optical attachment (12) mounted in direction of light emission in front of an LED light source. The optical attachment comprises a holding turret on a side facing a circuit board such that the holding turret slots into a hole drilled into a circuit board. The optical attachment is positive-locking to a holding body (4) arranged on another side facing away from the light source. The holding body is molded to carrier frame, where one of the holding body or the carrier frame is provided to snap on to the optical attachment. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a lighting unit.
