[Also in Division B3] In a baling-press metal scrap is compressed successively downwards, sideways and finally from one end. In operation an ejection door 7 is first closed and locked by means of a catch block 16 and a locking handle 15. A baling chamber 14 is filled with scrap and a ram 2 actuated to lower a cover 1, pivotally mounted, to a horizontal position. The cover 1 and baling chamber 14 have shear edges 12, 13. Rams 4 are next actuated to compress the scrap sideways by means of a follower 3. A ram 6 then compresses the bale lengthwise, by means of a follower 5 sliding within the space enclosed by cover 1 and follower 3. Finally ejection door 7 is opened and ram 6 pushes the bale out. |
