The spring element has a base (1), a cover plate (2), and a spring body (3) arranged between the base and the cover plate. The cover plate consists of two elongate parts (2 power 1, 2 power 2), which are arranged together. The elongate parts are supported against the base by individual spring bodies (3 power 1, 3 power 2). Complete outer contour of the elongate parts of the cover plate are approximately quadratic. A parting line runs between the parts of the cover plate parallel to a longitudinal axis of a rectangle. The individual spring bodies are formed with two spring arms. An independent claim is also included for a mattress or sub-mattress comprising support elements.
