The reader (1) has a base body (2) for accommodating a contact block carrying contact elements and comprising base body-sided pivoting/sliding-bearing elements (5, 6). A cover i.e. retractable/sliding cover (3), is supported at the base body by the bearing elements, and has a cover-sided pivoting/sliding-bearing element and cover arms. The base body-sided bearing elements or the cover-sided bearing element has an axial safety stop (13) for securing the bearing elements, such that unintended detachment of the base body and the cover is inhibited.
