A perforated sheet 1 is adhered to the face side of a mosaic 2. The sheeted mosaic is fixed to a substrate 5, and then the temporary support sheet 1 is removed before the material used to fix the mosaic 4 is fully cured. Prior to contacting the mosaicâ s tesserae 2, the support sheet 1 has a release layer over the adhesive layer. The support sheet 1 is preferably a transparent or translucent plastic having holes over the faces of the tesserae 2 and the spaces between them. The mosaic is preferably pre-grouted. The tesserae 2 may be stone, ceramic, porcelain or glass, and the fixing material may be glue or cement based.
