METHOD FOR TESTING CHIPPING RESISTANCE AND CORROSION RESISTANCE OF COIL SPRING WITH HIGH STRESS

PURPOSE: A method for testing the chipping and corrosion resistances of a high tension coil spring is provided to improve the production quality of a vehicle by preventing field claims. CONSTITUTION: A method for testing the chipping and corrosion resistances of a high tension coil spring is as follows. A high tension coil spring(1) is installed inside a gravel catapult. Gravel(3) is fired to the high tension coil spring. The high tension coil spring is put into a chamber and salty water is sprayed to the high tension coil spring. The high tension coil spring is mounted on a durability tester and tension and compression tests are repeated. The high tension coil spring is maintained at a temperature of -30°C or below for about 2 hours. The high tension coil spring is rotated to 360° by a motor(5) for 20 seconds. The high tension coil spring is compressed and salty water is sprayed to the high tension coil spring.
