Multi-user food and drink ordering system providing shared dining experience

An interactive food and/or drink ordering system and method is provided which comprises a computer controlled projector apparatus, interface devices and a horizontal surface. The projector projects an image, including a menu of food/drink options, onto some or all of the surface. The options are selectable by a first and second user operating a respective interface device. The system is characterised by the menu being projected onto the surface such that it can be shared by the first and second user. Different groupings of diners at a table can be defined by each group having its own shared menu zone. The ordering system may comprise an input palette, a camera and a tracking computer, where the menu is projected onto the palette and the tracking computer is able to determine the position and/or orientation of the palette through image processing. An input pointer, to be held by a user, may also be provided, where the tracking computer determines the position of the pointer through image processing.
