PURPOSE: An automatic scale removal apparatus is provided to automatically remove molten scales, which are formed on the cut surface of a slab, with a scooper that is rotated by cooling water flowing in the lower side of a canal. CONSTITUTION: An automatic scale removal apparatus comprises a rotary gear(11), a drag chain(12), a rotating unit(10), and a scale removal unit(20). The rotary gear is connected to a rotary shaft(13). The drag chain is formed of a plurality of connected unit chains and installed along the circumference of the rotary gear, wherein each unit chain comprises a base part with a central groove and a connection part which is vertically extended from both ends of the base part and formed with coupling holes. The rotating unit is fixed to the inner wall of a canal. The scale removal unit is installed in the rotating unit and moved by the flux of cooling water in the lower side of the canal to remove and transfer scales.
