PURPOSE: A fuel efficiency calculation apparatus and method for a vehicle are provided to accurately measure fuel efficiency based on whether to refuel, the amount of refueling, and the opening/closing of a fuel inlet. CONSTITUTION: A fuel efficiency calculation apparatus comprises a flow meter(100) which measures the fuel amount of a vehicle, a driving recorder(200) which records the driving distance of the vehicle, a fuel inlet detector(300) which detects the opening/closing of a fuel inlet, and a controller(400) which calculates fuel efficiency from the prior refueling point of time to the current refueling point of time using the fuel amount and the driving distance according to the sensing signal of the fuel inlet detector.
