PURPOSE: A power control method of an external type optical disc drive is provided to supply stable power through a control of charging operation or discharge of a battery for filling. CONSTITUTION: An external optical disk driver is connected to a host through a USB cable(S10). A controller sets a battery charging mode(S11). The controller outputs a control signal of a high level(S12). If a spindle motor is rotated, the controller sets a battery discharge mode(S13, S14). The controller outputs a controls signal of a low level(S15).
