[Also in Division F2] A centrifugal pump for a washing machine has an impeller 25 with a thin back plate 28 and four thin radially extending vanes 27 formed from resilient nylon so that they may flex to prevent jamming by obstructions such as hair dips. The impeller shaft 21 is boltdriven by an electric motor and rotatably mounted in a cast aluminium base 10 to which a housing 29 is secured by three spring clips 39, the pump inlet 42 being selectively connected with a wash-tub or spin-dryer by a pair of cam-operated valves (see Division F2).</p> |
