PURPOSE: A display device and a method for controlling the display device are provided to secure a storing space by updating the compressed file system of embedded environment, in which a memory is insufficient, with a file unit. CONSTITUTION: A signal processing part(110) includes at least one device. The signal processing part processes received image signals and displays images. A volatile memory part(120) includes a first memory region and a second memory region. A controlling part(130) determines the allocation of the second memory region with respect to the device and applications according to the update state of the applications.
