The fender (1) has fender portions (2, 3) whose opposite edges (4, 5) comprise complementary hollow parts (11, 12) and protruding parts (9, 10). The parts are adapted to engage into each other and are associated with articulation units (6). The articulation units permit to adapt shape of the fender to shape of a portion of a ship to be protected. The articulation units include a hinge pin (7) extending through the parts of the opposite edges of the fender portions, where the fender is made of plastic materials.
