A vapour-permeable element (10) to be used in the composition of soles for shoes is disclosed. The element (10) comprises a supporting frame (11) and a membrane which is impermeable to water and permeable to water vapour. At least one protective layer (19) for the membrane is arranged between the frame (11) and the membrane. The membrane and the at least one protective layer (19) is joined at their perimetric edges to each other and to the supporting frame (11). The protective layer contacts the ground during use. There is a structural grid (14) which is monolithic with a perimetric portion (13) of the frame (11). Studs (22) that contact the ground during use are provided on the structural grid (14).
