Described is a method for preparing a magnetic plastisol composition and plastic films with magnetic properties, the method including two steps (a) preparing a plastisol composition by mixing a poly vinyl chloride-based polymeric matrix and at least a plasticizer; (b) preparing magnetic nanoparticles by chemical co-precipitation upon (i) agitating and heating a water solution with one or more water soluble magnetic precursors, (ii) adding one or more reduction agents for producing a reduction reaction of said magnetic precursors in order to form magnetic nanoparticles, (iii) separating the magnetic nanoparticles from the solution, and (iv) superficially modifying the magnetic nanoparticles with at least a superficial modification agent; and (c) incorporating said magnetic particles to the plastisol composition. Finally, the magnetic plastisol composition results in plastic materials (for example plastic films) with magnetic properties.
