The discosure relates to pyrimidine compounds of formual (I) having a dibenzylamine structure, wherein the variables are as defined in the specification. These pyrimidine compounds of formual (I) have an inhibitory activity against cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) and are suitable in the treatment of dyslipidemia, arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, hyper-LDL-emia, hypo-HDL-emia, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, familial hypercholesterolemia, cardiovascular disturbance, angina pectoris, ischemia, cardiac ischemia, thrombosis, myocardial infarction, reperfusion disturbance, angioplasty restenosis, or hypertension. Cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) is an extremely hydrophobic protein which transfers a cholesterol ester from HDL cholesterol to LDL cholesterol, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol or the like, and HDL cholesterol can be increased by inhibiting the transfer by CETP
