A leg assembly (10) for supporting furniture on the floor is disclosed. The assembly (10) includes a stem (11) and a foot. The foot rests on the floor surface and the stem (11) extends upwardly from the foot. The foot and stem (11) are fixed to each other using engagement means and a fastener (13). The engagement means includes a projection member (15) comprising plurality of angularly spaced apart projections (17) and a socket member (16) comprising plurality of angularly spaced apart apertures (18). The projection member (15) and socket member (16) are each attached to one of the stem (11) or foot. In order to secure the stem (11) and the foot together, the fastener (13) is tensioned. Upon tensioning of the fastener (13), each of the projections (12) on the projection member (15) locates to each of the adjacent apertures (18) on the socket member (16).
