PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system that alleviates user's anxiety when the guidance direction of a navigation system differs from that of a guide sign. SOLUTION: The navigation system 11 displays a guide route, set on the basis of map information, current position information and destination information, on a display 16 to guide the travelling direction of user's own vehicle at the intersection. It obtains place names existing along the direction of destination as place name information, and, when at least one place name information among the direction guide information of the guide sign is included and the direction indicated by the direction guide information corresponding to the place name information does not match with that guided along the guide route, it gives guarantee guidance enabling checking the route along the guide route.
