The motor vehicle (1) has a vehicle interior (2) including a number of seats (3-7) corresponding to a quantity of persons to be transported. Hand or foot-actuatable crank handles (8, 9) and rockers (10, 11) are arranged in a region of the seats. Electrical energy is produced by actuating the crank handles and supplied into a main power supply (12). Display elements (14, 15) are placed in the interior and/or on a vehicle outer side. A measuring unit (13) detects and records the electrical energy during supplying into the power supply. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle.
