PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reading data when the arrangement of a constituent cell group of a 1D color bit code is partially disordered or even if it is difficult to provide a cut-out Qz around the constituent cell group. SOLUTION: An image including the 1D color bit code 10 of a reading target is imaged to obtain a capture image 12. Next, a long visual field frame B is set in the capture image 12, and a narrow image in the visual field frame B is taken out. Next, the takeout narrow image is divided into a plurality of color areas by a value of each pixel in the narrow image, and color arrangement information described with an order from one end of the narrow image to the other end and a color of each color area is generated. Next, when the generated color arrangement information satisfies an establishment condition prescribing the establishment of the 1D color bit code, the color arrangement information is regarded as the arrangement of the colors of the 1D color bit code of the reading target, decoding is performed based on the color arrangement information, and data are outputted.
