PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isolated preparation including a receptor for an underivatized aqueous solubleβ(1,3)-glucan, to provide a method for isolating theβ(1,3)-glucan, and to provide an assay for quantifying the amount of theβ(1,3)-glucan or aβ(1,3)-glucan-containing organism in a test sample. SOLUTION: The sample containing theβ(1,3)-glucan is brought into contact with the receptor under conditions suitable for keeping theβ(1,3)-glucan bound to a proteinaceous receptor and producing a primary complex of theβ(1,3)-glucan bound to the receptor to isolate the primary complex.
