Waste is conveyed along a channel 2 by a reciprocating conveyer comprising a chain of angle iron sections 7, 8, 9 running on rollers 20 and connected end to end by horizontal pivots 13 engaging pairs of spurs 15 on one section and pairs of side plates 14 on an adjacent section. Each pivot 13 is as long as the projected width of the angle iron sections 7, 8, 9. Each section 7, 8, 9 carries a pair of pushing blades 1 pivoted on vertical pins 3 mounted on a common cross member 4 bolted to a bracket 6 welded to the angle iron. During the forward stroke the blades 1 abut V-shaped members 12 so arranged that each blade always makes an acute angle with the ridge of the angle iron. Each angle iron section 7, 8, 9 carries a fixed axial spur 21 while the channel 2 has stationary spurs 19. Specification 977,994 is referred to. |
