The device (1) has an electrical drive machine (4) whose drive shaft (5) is indirectly coupled with a wheel (3) i.e. wheel hub (6), by a shaft hinge (9). A swivel bearing (15) is assigned to the electrical drive machine for direct mounting of the drive machine at a chassis of a vehicle (2) and includes a length compensation device (16) within the device. A transmission (7) is arranged between the electrical drive machine and the shaft hinge, which is directly connected with the wheel, where an output of the transmission is directly connected with the wheel.
