HETEROCLITIC ANALOG AND RELATED METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods to prepare peptides containing epitopes which have enhanced ability to effect an immune response with respect to corresponding analogous wildtype epitopes.

SOLUTION: Heteroclitic analogs of Class I epitopes are prepared by providing conservative or semi-conservative amino acid substitutions at positions 3 and/or 5 and/or 7 of these epitopes. The analogs are useful in eliciting immune responses with respect to the corresponding wildtype epitopes. A method to enhance the immunogenicity of a peptide containing an epitope is also provided. Further, a composition is provided which comprises at least one peptide including Class I epitopes obtained by the above method.
