<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the capacity of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprising a bimetal wherein Rh and Pd or Pt are combined or a trimetal wherein Pt, Pd and Rh are combined. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas purifying catalyst wherein Rh doped CeZr type composite oxide powder and noble metal (at least one of Pt and Pd) supported heat-resistant powder are contained in the catalyst layer 2 of a carrier 1, a CeZr type composite particle to be doped with Rh contains at least one kind of a metal selected from Pr, La and Y or is compounded with Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and does not support both of Pt and Pd while a heat-resistant particle supporting the noble metal comprises at least one kind of a particle selected from an La-containing active Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>particle, a BaSO<SB>4</SB>particle and a composite particle of the CeZr composite oxide and Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
