<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an abnormal image such as an image with irregularity and an image of low resolution, caused by a discharge product or the like such as ozone and nitrogen oxide (NOx) accumulated on a surface of a latent image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the latent image carrier; an electrifying means for electrifying the surface of the latent image carrier; an electrostatic latent image-forming means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the latent image carrier electrified by the electrifying means; a developing means for making the formed electrostatic latent image with toner to be a visible image; a transfer means for transferring, to a body to be transferred, the toner image made to be visible; and a toner cleaning means for cleaning toner remaining on the surface of the latent image carrier after transfer. The image forming apparatus has: an electric resistance detection means for detecting electric resistance of the surface of the latent image carrier; and a means for performing cleaning operation on the surface of the latent image carrier based on the result of detection by the electric resistance detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
