<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controller with high operability for operating various devices such as a car navigation device, an audio device and an air conditioner in a vehicle, or operating a personal computer or the like. <P>SOLUTION: When a plurality of icons 54 are arranged in a vertical direction on a screen of a monitor 48 in the controller 10, for instance, LEDs arranged facing each other in the vertical direction of the controller 10 through a touch panel of the controller 10 emit light, while LEDs arranged facing each other in the horizontal direction of the controller 10 through the touch panel of the controller 10 do not emit light. Consequently, in portions of a design part 18, which face each other in the vertical direction of the controller 10, light of the LEDs is emitted.
