PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding joint structure of a column and a beam allowing the butt-welding joint parts of beam flanges to be reinforced and surely preventing the beam flanges from breaking due to bending with simple constitution as the welding joint structure of the column and beam used in the case of joining, by welding, a steel column such as H-shape steel, a square steel column or a welded box column to a steel beam (H-shape steel beam) such as H-shape steel or I-shape steel having parallel flanges at the upper and lower parts. SOLUTION: The welding joint structure of the column and beam in which an H-shape steel beam member 4 is joined, by welding, to a steel column 1 with a diaphragm 2 installed, is constructed by joining an H-shape steel bracket 3 having a flange 3a wider in width than the flange 4a of the H-shape steel beam member 4, to the steel column 1 by welding, and joining the H-shape steel beam member 4 to the H-shape steel bracket 3 by welding.
