PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate a process for fermenting or cooling food materials conveyed by a conveyor without making a large change of a food conveying path by the existing conveyor. SOLUTION: An upstream conveyor device 151 places a tray TR delivered from an upstream existing conveyor device 103U. A first lift device 201 scoops up the tray TR on the upstream conveyor device 151 by an ascent flipper and conveys it upward. The tray TR located in an uppermost stage of the first lift device 201 is transferred to a second lift device 401 by a pusher device 301. The second lift device 401 conveys the tray TR downward in a held state by a descent flipper and places it on a downstream conveyor device 152.
