The present invention relates to a paste-like polymer composition for use in repairing tissue of a patient which is prepared by combining at least one blood component, a chitosan solution having a chitosan concentration of between about 1.0% w/w to 10.0% w/w and at least one salt, the volume ratio between said blood component and said chitosan solution is between about 4:1 to 1:1.
