PURPOSE: A magnesium-based heating composition is provided to generate the heat at a fast speed, to offer enough heat generation amount, and to ensure an environment-friendly and easy method. CONSTITUTION: A magnesium-based heating composition includes, based on 1 kg magnesium powder, 5~15 g cooking oil, 1~5 g metal chloride and 100~130 g iron powder. The mean size of magnesium powder is 20~120 mesh. A method for manufacturing the magnesium-based heating composition comprises the steps of: (i) preparing a composition for manufacturing a heat generation material; (ii) sintering the composition at 600~660 °C to prepare a magnesium-based sintered material; and (iii) blending the magnesium-based sintered material, sodium chloride, cooking oil and activated charcoal.
