PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor whose assembling property can be improved and which can avoid air gaps from being impaired, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The compressor 1 includes a cylindrical body casing 2, an electric motor 3, a rotating shaft 6 of a rotor 9, and a compression mechanism 4. The electric motor 3 includes a stator 8 and a rotor 9. The stator 8 is secured in the body casing 2. The rotor 9 is rotatably positioned with respect to the stator 8. The compression mechanism 4 includes bearings 51, 52. The bearings 51, 52 rotatably support the rotating shaft 6. The body casing 2 and the stator 8 are welded to each other with a predetermined first gapδ1 formed between them. The body casing 2 and the compression mechanism 4 are welded to each other with a predetermined second gapδ2 formed between them, and the second gap is larger than the first gapδ1.
