The element (1) has spikes (2) arranged at distance on an outer face of an object to be protected in an erected or extended manner, where the distance amounts to 30-100 mm. The spikes are connected over a base plate (3) using laser, where length of the spikes lies in a range of 150-400 mm. A pyrotechnic device is provided for positioning the spikes, and a protective cover (5) is provided with interconnecting layers that are made of harder material such as metal, plastic, hybrid material or fiber composite material, and softer material such as foam or rubber. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting an object against hollow charge projectiles.
