PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tachometer capable of elongating a measurable distance when measuring in the noncontact state, simplifying a structure, and mounting a contact adaptor on a body device with high reliability, concerning a tachometer capable of measuring a rotational frequency of a rotor both in the contact and noncontact state by presence of mounting of the contact adaptor on a measuring device body. SOLUTION: This tachometer is described as follows: the contact adaptor 2 can be mounted on/dismounted from the measuring device body 1 including a photodetection part 7 having a light emitting element 15 and a light receiving element 17, for measuring a rotational frequency in the noncontact state based on a photodetection signal of the photodetection part 7; the contact adaptor 2 has a rotation detection shaft 21 rotatable together with rotation of the rotor 50 in contact therewith, and a magnetic disk 22 connected to the rotation detection shaft 21 concentrically, and having magnetic poles 22a, 22b on the circumference edge; and the measuring device body 1 includes a measuring part 13 for measuring a rotational frequency of the magnetic disk 22 based on a magnetic detection signal outputted from a magnetic detection element 3.
