PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save energy when a call is terminated without ringing, to save energy of a telephone set off-hook detection circuit in a non-ringing call termination mode during sleep, to delete a photointerrupter simultaneously with the energy saving and to reduce costs. SOLUTION: A hook detection circuit includes a circuit connected to a rectifier circuit using not a current inside equipment but a line current. Thus, the photointerrupter is deleted. When power to a semiconductor NCU (SDAA) from a modem is interrupted when the equipment is in SLEEP in the non-ringing call termination mode, a circuit for automatically connecting the rectifier circuit to the telephone set and the off-hook detection circuit side is provided. Also, when ringing, a route is changed and hook detection is performed in a different hook detection circuit. Thus, energy is saved and costs are reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
