PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor which can have a core reliably fixed in a stacking direction and avoid the occurrence of electric trouble. SOLUTION: The size of an engagement portion 5a of a spacer 5 is equal to the width H and depth D of a projection 1c of the E type core 1 and when the spacer 5 is arranged in a gap 7, the engagement portion 5a of the spacer 5 and the projection 1c of the E type core 1 are engaged with each other without leaving any gap. The E type core 1 has electromagnetic steel plates stacked in the depth direction, so that when the engagement portion 5a of the spacer 5 is engaged with the projection 1c of the E type core 1, the projection 1c of the E type core 1 is fixed by the spacer 5 in the depth direction, i.e. the stacking direction. Therefore, an excitation current flows to a coil to generate magnetic flux at the core and even if a midleg 1b of the E type core 1 vibrates with magnetic attracting force, the stacked electromagnetic steel plates do not vibrate at an end of the midleg 1b of the E type core 1, thereby preventing a hitting sound between the electromagnetic steel plates from being generated.
