The invention relates to a device for handling pipes, which has a base body and a door. At least one wedge that can be positioned by a hydraulic cylinder is arranged in the base body for clamping the pipe. A holding device is arranged in the area of an upper side of the base body, from where a base element is connected to the base body and a counter element is connected to the door. Both the base element and the counter element have guide profiles for clamping plates which can be positioned by at least one hydraulic cylinder.
