The stator (1) has hollow cylindrical stator part (2) for receiving a rotating armature, where a wall of the stator part is made up of magnetically conductive material and is provided as a support of a hollow cylindrical permanent magnet (3). The stator part and the magnet exhibit varying wall thickness. The stator part comprises a cylindrical outer casing. An inner contour of the stator part and an outer contour of the magnet are adapted to each other and lie flat against each other. The wall thickness of the stator part and the magnet is changed in a continuous way.
