Disclosed is a honeycomb structure which comprises a honeycomb unit that contains a zeolite and an inorganic binder and has a plurality of through pores that are separated by partition walls and arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction. The honeycomb unit is loaded with a noble metal catalyst only in a region that is not less than 1.5% but not more than 20% of the total length of the honeycomb unit from one end in the longitudinal direction.
