PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push button using an output signal from a photosensor as an OFF/ON switching trigger which changes a balancing relation between a depression pressure required for an operation and a reaction force thereto, at OFF/ON switching. SOLUTION: In a push button 1, a depression portion 100 biased upward by a spring S is depressed downward and if a stroke of the depression portion 100 reaches a predetermined distance, then a portion of the depression portion 100 is detected by a photosensor 401, and thereby OFF/ON switching is carried out. Furthermore, the button has a metal dome D. In this respect, the load of the spring S acts on the depression portion 100, in a condition where the depression portion 100 is depressed downward. Additionally, a stroke of the depression portion 100 depressed downward reaches a predetermined distance; and when OFF/ON switching is carried out, the load of the metal dome D acts on the depression portion 100, in addition to the load of the spring S.
