ADAPTIVE OBJECT TRACKING METHOD, SYSTEM, AND COMPUTER READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM

The present invention relates to a method, a system and a computer readable recording medium for adaptively tracking an object. According to an embodiment of the invention, the method of adaptively tracking an object comprises the steps of: (a) comparing a first block which indicates an area corresponding to a specific object in a first frame with at least one block included in a second frame, and determining a block, of which a degree of coincidence with the first block among at least one block included in the second block is highest, as a second block which indicates the area corresponding to the specific object; and (b) detecting the specific object from at least a part of the area of the second frame by using an object detection technique if the degree of coincidence between the first block and the second block is less than a threshold value which is set in advance, and resetting the second block in the second frame on the basis of the area corresponding to the detected specific object. According to the invention, it is possible to provide an algorithm for adaptively tracking the object included in the frames of a moving image. Therefore, object tracking (in particular, face tracking) in the moving image may be performed more promptly and accurately.
