The pallet (1) has rail-like base areas (2) i.e. dual rails, for receiving a wheel of a trolley, where the base areas are separated from each other by a lifting tunnel (3) for receiving a fork rake of a forklift. A locking mechanism fixes the trolley that is situated on the pallet. The locking mechanism includes a linear slide (6) with a base trigger (5). The linear slide is operatively connected with a locking device (4). A movement of the base trigger is provided in a longitudinal direction of the linear slide for activation and deactivation of the locking device. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting cargo by a trolley and a pallet.
