<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element which has a gain region formed obliquely to a projection end surface, and can suppress laser oscillation. <P>SOLUTION: A laminate structure 120 of the light emitting element 100 is provided with a first opening 180 penetrating an active layer 106, the first opening 180 being provided crossing a segment B1B2 and a segment M1M2 in plan view from a laminating direction of the active layer 106 and an inner surface of the first opening 180 being not parallel to a first plane 105 and a second plane 107, where an end point of the first end surface 170 on a side in a second-direction (+Y direction) opposite to a first direction (-Y direction) in plan view from the laminating direction of the active layer 106 is denoted by A1, a foot of a perpendicular to the second plane 107 from A1 is denoted by A2, an end point of a second end surface 172 on a side in the first direction (-Y direction) is denoted by B<SB>2</SB>, a foot of a perpendicular to the first plane 105 from B2 as B1 the midpoint of a segment A1B1 is denoted by M1, and the midpoint of a segment A2B2 is denoted by M2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
