PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently carry out charging operation or exchanging operation of a battery pack in a portable ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. SOLUTION: An examination reservation forming section 31 extracts, from an examination kind/probe table storing section 32 and an examination kind/examination required time table storing section 33, the kind of an ultrasonic probe and examination required time corresponding to an examination kind contained in examination reservation information, and adds the kind of the ultrasonic probe and the examination required time to the examination reservation information. An examination availability-determining section 36 extracts, on the basis of the kind of ultrasonic probe included in the examination reservation information, corresponding power consumption from a probe/power consumption table storing section 38, and calculates battery consumption from the extracted power consumption and the examination required time. The examination availability decision section 36 decides whether the examination is available or not on the basis of the calculated battery consumption and battery remaining capacity acquired from a battery remaining capacity acquiring section 37.
