摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, capable of reducing manufacturing costs, the active matrix type liquid crystal display device being equipped with a thin-film transistor as a switching element. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of: forming a metal thin-film on a transparent insulating substrate 1, and forming a gate bus 2 line by etching using a first mask; stacking a gate insulating film 3, an operation semiconductor layer 4, and a metal thin film for forming source/drain electrodes 6 and 7, and etching portions including even a part of the operation semiconductor layer 4 en bloc into source/drain electrode shapes by using a second mask; and separating the operation semiconductor layer 4 for each pixel area by etching using a third mask, and simultaneously opening the upper part of the external connection terminal 20 of the gate bus line 2.
