<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a stereoscopic image so that another display area other than the stereoscopic image is displayed without any sense of incongruity. <P>SOLUTION: A distance calculation part 7 calculates a subject distance on the basis of images obtained by photographing with cameras 2A, 2B. A stereoscopic image generation part 8 generates a stereoscopic image SR from the images SA, SB. When display of a menu screen is indicated, a menu screen generation part 18 generates the menu screen having a parallax and a size according to the subject distance.
