PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a configuration of an auxiliary tank for glue, in which an EVA-based hot-melt adhesive is heated to around 150-160°C that is slightly lower than the optimum coating temperature and supplied to a gluing device of a bookbinding machine, and to develop a glue temperature control method, the configuration and the method being developed so that energy saving is fully considered and electric power consumption is as low as possible. SOLUTION: The auxiliary tank for glue comprises a tank body, a suction pump and a hose, wherein a glue temperature sensor is provided at a proper position of the tank body and a plurality of heaters each having a heater temperature sensor are incorporated in the tank body. In the glue temperature control method, the plurality of heaters of the tank body are controlled in the range of upper limit temperature to lower limit temperature of the heaters until the glue temperature reaches an upper limit temperature, then, when the glue temperature reaches the upper limit temperature, the glue temperature is mainly controlled in the range of upper limit temperature to lower limit temperature of the glue temperature.
