PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection component that prevents discharge characteristics from deteriorating, with a discharge electrode having a reaction, such as oxidization. SOLUTION: An overvoltage protection component 7 comprises an element body 1 produced by calcining a ceramic; a discharge hollow part 2 formed inside the element body 1; a first discharge electrode 3 and a second discharge electrode 4, which are formed at a distance from each other by the discharge hollow part 2; a first terminal electrode 5 and a second terminal electrode 6, which are formed outside the element body 1 and are electrically connected to the first discharge electrode 3 and the second discharge electrode 4, respectively; and the first discharge electrode 3 and the second discharge electrode 4 are made of gold, or a mixture of gold and resin.
