PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow gas and ions to be dissolved in supply liquid during atomization and generate mist added with a novel effect by a simple and compact configuration in a surface acoustic wave atomizer. SOLUTION: The device 1 include a vibrator 3 formed of a piezoelectric material which has a pattern electrode 2 for generating a surface acoustic wave W, and in the device liquid L supplied to the surface S of the vibrator 3 on which the surface acoustic wave W is propagated is spattered and atomized as a fine particle M by the surface acoustic wave W generated by applying a high frequency voltage to the pattern electrode 2. The device 1 includes a pair of electrodes 4 for electrolyzing the liquid L on the vibrator 3 and holds the supplied liquid L between a space between the electrodes 4 for electrolysis and the surface S of the vibrator 3 using the surface tension. Accordingly, a voltage is applied between the electrodes 4 in atomization, so that the gas and the ions are dissolved in the liquid L at a place where atomization is carried out, and the mist provided with the new effect can be generated.
